Linebacker Limeade

I bought a surplus of limes and figured it would pair well with a bottle of tequila flavored beer that I’ve been dreading to finish. I topped off with a shot of shikuwasa lime concentrate, dash of raw sugar and  approximately 150ml of sparkling water for more fizz factor. This beer is so weak… Kind of reminds me of Corona. Forget about the tequila flavor… There was hardly a hint. I think this is gonna be a one-off purchase. I’m glad I decided to use it in the cocktail though, else I don’t know what other way would help me finish the beer.

I needed a good drink before returning to office tomorrow. I was under the weather and hardly enjoyed my short break from work… Figured I should replenish my depleted immunity with some shikuwasa lime. I don’t think it’s possible to get these rare limes here in Singapore. I was fortunately to be able to purchase a bottle of its concentrate locally. It ain’t cheap, but definitely was worth it. I encountered these limes while traveling in Okinawa and fell in love with its taste. It’s zestier than regular limes, but not overly sour… Ok, maybe I’ve a higher tolerance to sour stuff. Anyway I think the most awesome fact about these limes is how beneficially they are to your health. According to locals, these citruses are high in antioxidant content, inhibits cancer, improves blood sugar levels in diabetics and slows down aging…

This bamboo straw pairs well with my boozy wake-me-up. I was gifted bamboo straws by Mel, my environmentally-friendly pal who runs an e-store selling all things bamboo… Not gonna kid you, I was initially quite skeptical to use the straw. But I’m glad I took the leap. The bamboo straw is smooth inside out. Looks like there was much quality control down when selecting and processing the bamboo into straws… I’ve seen other bamboo straws on sale and they are either very rough, poor suction (due to holes alone the straw) or had dead bugs inside. There is also no woody taste from the straw so it does not affect the overall taste of my drink. I’m relieved to say I experienced none of those nightmares with her product. The organic straw also works well as a stirrer so that’s one less thing cluttering the pint glass. The straws are available in 2 sizes (15 and 20cm). I’m using the long version here, which is good for highball glasses. If using with a regular mug, I think the short version suffices. 🙂
