This mural seems pretty new, probably done to commemorate SG50. I’m unable to get any pings online on this mural or the artist(s) responsible for it. The mural depicts scenes of the past in Jalan Besar, which includes New World Amusement Park, heritage shophouses and transportation mode of yesteryears. The mural extends to merge with imagery associated […]

Point Block
A “point block” refers to a type of architectural design seen in public housing in Singapore. Not sure if this term is commonly used in architecture, or just one of the unique terms that Singapore’s Housing Development Board (HBD) has come up with. Such designs are prevalent among flats built in the late 60s up […]
Supergrove
Metal trees in a park. I think only Singapore would be audacious enough to erect fake trees in a nature park. Visitors pay S$5 to get up to the walkway (By a lift! Singaporeans don’t walk up the stairs, unlike hardy New Yorkers having to climb approximately 15 flight of stairs to reach the top […]
Marina Bay Sands II
I was at the Esplanade yesterday afternoon. The sun was hot, and the music by the Promenade was blaring. Then there were national day songs being played at the Floating Stadium nearby. All so distracting. I didn’t even notice that I had my circular polarizer on my lens. Then there was the double polarizing effect, […]
Spikes
Despite listing repetition as one of the techniques for capturing architectural features during the photography workshop, I rarely apply this technique. I prefer photographing architecture “freestyle”.
My Mum insisted I grab a shot of the Singapore Flyer (I prefer to call it the Giant Ferris). Not exactly the most flattering angle to shoot it too! Not forgetting all the vehicles zooming past me. The purple streaks are from a SBS bus. Anyway, that’s another shot done with the crazy framing. As […]
Marina Bay Sands
Overlooking the Marina Barrage is the Marina Bay Sands casino. It’s still under construction, but soon to be completed.
Victoria’s Clock
The clock tower of Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall. It’s quite an icon on it’s own. I wonder why was there a need to constantly create “icons” and “identities” when we have them all along. Never mind the colonial influence…
Fullerton, Part Une
The Fullerton never fails to impress. A timeless beauty.
Merlion
Looks pretty vogue in this light…
I’m bored with work. Just playing around with digital filters. When I was younger, it didn’t make much sense to me why my Uncle was so into graduated filters and making his photos look “weird”. Shouldn’t photos reflect reality? Now in retrospect, I think it’s sort of an escapism or even a way to view […]
Pity the grey skies…
She looks rather masculine. What tough hands…
The tallest pagoda at Chinese Garden was modeled after the Linggu Pagoda in Nanjing, China. Sometimes I wonder, what motivated the sinicization craze of the 70s-80s in Singapore…
MICA
Otherwise known as the old Hill Street Police Station. Love those colorful windows.
What can I say?
Where do think my destination is? That control tower is the very symbol of Singapore’s beloved airport. Think Changi Airport, think iconic control tower.
Changi Airport
Simplicity is the best.
Curves
The beautiful thing about the Marina Barrage isn’t the barrage itself, but the pump house. In my opinion, it’s not only geometric-licious but is also a building that stands out for its contemporariness while blending in with it surroundings. Distinctive, yet not too showy.
