Correct me if I’m wrong, for I think this particular HDB flat is built in the Art Deco style. Who needs to go down to Tiong Bahru to have a taste of Art Deco public housing? Anyway I was exploring around my neighborhood with my much neglected 28mm lens. I think this wide angle lens works fine […]

Block 632
An apartment block directly opposite where I live… Frankly I’m trying to work out how to take night shots. Night photography is my achilles’ heel. Recently, a person I’m fond of, told me I take crappy night shots. That sure didn’t go down well with me.
Nouvelle Boon Lay 2
Another shot of a block of newer flats at Boon Lay. What I mean by “newer” is a flat built slightly more than a decade ago. One thing to note about this photo is that I took it at a really bad timing… Around 6.25pm. No wonder the photo is rather dim. Worst off, tall […]
Red Briks
For a lack of a better title… But anyway I am in a bad mood today and I wish to throw red bricks, specifically “red” bricks at a group of people. I thought being quiet and to myself would prevent gossips, but it did nothing at all. All the contrary!
Stairway To Decay
Spartan, simple, and decaying… This stairway has seen better days 30 years ago. Note: This building is “21 Floors” at Taman Jurong.
Please Jump
Do you feel the impulse to make the plunge down? I do. This photo was taken from the corridor outside my apartment unit with my handphone… Yes in 3.2MP resolution. I was initially attracted to the geometrically-striking angled walls of the building, which explains why I’d taken the photo from this angle, panning down […]
Nouvelle Boon Lay
This is perhaps the newest flats in Boon Lay estate. Yet it’s approximately a decade old. If you’ve ever been down to Boon Lay, you’d know understand why this is the most pleasant image of Boon Lay. Boon Lay is the hotbed of rustic, urban decay.
What is freedom?
This is a continuation of my other photo, “The Singapore Birdcage”. I think this photo is more emotive than the latter. In the sense that there is this oxymoronic element of pining for freedom, and the inherent ignorance of what freedom actually is.
The Singapore Birdcage
Sometimes living in a HDB flat in Singapore is akin to living a pigeon’s life. Grills fitted on windows, aren’t we chained birds? By the way, that’s my cousin who I fondly call “The Brat”. 🙂
Pictorial
Sometimes I feel this block of flats looks more like a painting than an actual building. I live across the street from this new block of flats. Clearly, Surbana has a positive influence on the design of flats. They look as good as condominiums (but without the security and facilities). However, one wonders why HDB […]
