Merry Christmas, have a cupcake! I do wonder at times when will the cupcake craze fade away from Singapore. I’m sure we’re definitely on the plateau… More specifically, on the edge of impending decline. Nonetheless I’m grabbing my half-dozen worth of Christmas-themed cupcakes before they fade into oblivion. Pictured here is a chocolate mint cupcake […]

Probably the saltiest fries I’ve ever had comes from Open Door Policy. The burger was posh but the garlic fries… I can’t forget the ridiculous amount of sodium added to it. On the whole ODP reminds me of one of the hipster cafes/restaurants seen aplenty in New York City. It’s cool that Singapore’s F&B scene […]
I recently revisited Windowsills Pies with my favorite food buddy HL and naturally ordered a slice each. I think these are white chocolate truffle pies, if memory serves me right. I like indoor cafes, you get shelter from bad weather and air-conditioning for the dastardly heat. We had lunch earlier at a semi-alfresco cafe earlier […]
Chunky cuts of french toast garnished with mixed berry compote fresh off the stove, sprinkled with some powdered sugar and mint leaves. If it wasn’t enough, it came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This brunch-dessert is one of the limited items of the brunch menu at Open Door Policy. Not sure how it […]
That’s a one-shot cold drip coffee from Drips Bakery Cafe served in a minimalist Bodum Pavina double-wall glass. Apparently this is the cafe’s house special. The drink sure seems pretty with the sun shining down from the skylight, creating that half under shade sunlight look. Alas it’s such a tiny cup my friend sipped her […]
I got these rabbit-shaped pastries from Minamoto Kitchoan during my mooncake shopping at Takashimaya last week (last minute seasonal shopping -.-). I’ve been wanting to try them since I first chanced upon them 3 years ago. They aren’t exactly cheap. But considering the dedication and effort put into crafting them, I suppose it’s worthwhile. It’s […]
My brunch partner and I have pretty similar taste. This is what I ordered for brunch that day. To be honest, I pretty much underestimated the serving size. Â I thought I’d surely have more than enough room for 2 slices of brioche… Well, maybe not when they’re topped with poached eggs wrapped in smoked salmon […]
Pity the “punctured” Roma tomato… The dish would’ve been immaculate if the tomato was intact. I went to Wild Honey 2 months ago for brunch. The place was raved online, and among my acquaintances. I thought I should try this place out and see if it’s better than Hatched. Well, who am I kidding… […]
Xiao Long Bao
I have a weakness for Chinese dumplings. Ever since I had tasted the awesome dumplings in Toronto, I had longed to find some decent ones back home. What chance do I have that I would find one that met the standard Mother’s Dumplings has set? My recent visit to Paradise Dynasty proved that there was hope […]
The Fruity Birthday Cake
It was Gramp’s Birthday yesterday, and a dinner party was held for her at a Cantonese restaurant in Tanjong Pagar. I seem to be heading to that area quite so often for dinner engagements… Anyway this cake is the same as the one she had last year, with the exception of the “壽” (longevity) character […]
Traditional beef stew with carrots
The red wine sauce is darn strong… I’d prefer less of it. Nonetheless it was a great dish. The chunks of beef were super tender. 🙂
Duck Confit
Surprisingly I’ve never been to a French restaurant before. Delifrance does not count. French cuisine is pretty much a new thing for me… I hadn’t had the interest in it, partially because I had the impression that it is expensive, out of my budget. But the food at Le Bourlingueur is well priced. I’m definitely […]
A really huge sandwich/bun. Haha… I wonder how I ate it without separating it into half. I had my reservations having my breakfast there because almost everything on the menu was in French. French is quite an intimidating language. But I suppose I can get away with not knowing French in Montréal.
House special. Super huge and filling pizza…. H & I struggled to finish it. It didn’t help that for some dang reason we ordered beer to go along with our lunch/dinner…
Got a bit lost walking around Vieux-Montréal when H and I ran into this bistro for our very very late lunch. We were dying of hunger. We were trying to find Pointe-à -Callière Museum and Le Bourlingueur… But found neither! I was quite skeptical of this place, and wasn’t exactly happy with my bill… Though the […]
These were supposedly H & my dessert. But somehow they came out much earlier. I don’t recall ever eating colorful buns. It’s always the typical lotus paste or BBQ pork bun for me. These are really awesome… Sweet but not overly done. I think kids will like them too. Seriously, the restaurant should promote this […]
My first attempt at making Kimchi Bokuembap. I think I need to add more kimchi in the next time. I prefer it more spicy and flavorful… The egg was fried by H. Both of us have problems making a perfectly circular sunny side up. Anyway I’ve been cooking exotic fried rice dishes. The previous attempt […]
H and I went to the best donut place in Buffalo. And guess what H ordered… A bagel!!! I naturally ordered a donut. Nonetheless, the Bagel looks really appetizing. Pity she opted for the butter spread. Cream cheese would be heavenly.
Sweet and Sour Chicken
A team effort with my friend H. I was craving sweet and sour pork but cooked the chicken instead. It tasted pretty alright. But I must say I really don’t like deep-frying.
Boneless Lamb Leg
My Dad loved this roast lamb.
