The Road Ahead

You really can’t see much of the traffic in front. It was such a horrible downpour, but I’m not sure if it’s the worse so far for this year’s monsoon season. I guess in a way it’s similar to my experience this year. An adventure into the unknown, a thick misty fog… Somewhat frightening, yet […]

Monsoon Ride

I was running errands with my Mum yesterday when we were caught in a really nasty monsoon rain. Visibility on the road was about 20%. Couple weeks ago a pedestrian bridge near the highway we were traveling on collapsed from the impact of rain. Thankfully there weren’t any casualties. Crazy stuff just keeps happening up […]

Guanyin Shan

Overheard a couple of mainland Chinese tourists talking about the mountain on the opposite shores of Tamsui River and got to know its name. The weather was just so terrible for the entire day spent at Tamsui. There was a mini-typhoon going on… The river was swollen, there was even reports of landslide in the […]

Analog Toronto

There’s always a special place in my heart for Toronto. Strangely the city reminded me of home, for whatever odd reason, when I was studying in Buffalo. My return to this city reminded me how much has changed over the years. There’s even more new construction around. This city has this perpetual urban redevelopment going […]

Rose

Tulipmania at Gardens by the Bay was a freaking disappointment. There wasn’t anything much about them that inspired me. I was more excited when I saw fields of tulips in the Netherlands many years back. In fact this brings me back to the point that Gardens by the Bay has been a consistent disappointment to […]

Rosary

Rosary beads by my bedside. I’ve always found praying with the rosary rather “technical”.

Liberty Noir

Every single time I’ve been to New York City, the sky is overcast. I wonder if it’s perpetually like that at NYC or maybe I lack the luck for good weather. I took this picture with an overcast sky. The sky wasn’t exactly on the verge of pouring, but I do wish for some break […]

Pensive Reflection

A sculpture by a high school student that was on exhibit at Albright-Knox Art Gallery. This sculpture caught my eye while I was walking through the upper floor of Albright-Knox. For some reason I did not bother to jot down the name of the sculpture and the artist. This particular work left me a deep […]

Spikes

Despite listing repetition as one of the techniques for capturing architectural features during the photography workshop, I rarely apply this technique. I prefer photographing architecture “freestyle”.

Nearer My God To Thee

My Mum loves that hymn. She says it brings you closer to Heaven.

Rurality

I really like taking black and white photos. Some people think black and white photography is hard. To me, it’s pretty therapeutic. It’s a first time for me to deliberately shoot a non-landscape shot at ƒ/10. It came out pretty alright. Looks like I’ll be experimenting more with smaller apertures.

Marina Bay Sands

Overlooking the Marina Barrage is the Marina Bay Sands casino. It’s still under construction, but soon to be completed.

The Barrage

This is how the barrage will look like if it were shot with the Kodak Panatomic X ISO 32 film. Too bad the film is no longer in production. However, won’t an ISO 32 film be tricky to use?

Glistening

There is something about using the 105mm lens. It’s painfully hard to use but when you get the focus right, the photos it produces just has that sparkling quality. A good, but difficult lens to use.

The building has this authoritative, commanding presence. Is it a place for education or a place for serious business?
